Hi, I’m Kaitlin. I help entrepreneurs improve their personal brand online so that they can be more visible, have more influence and advance their business and career.

If you are like most of my readers, you’re a successful, high-achiever who is looking for ways to differentiate yourself from your competition. You hold strong personal values of integrity, hard-work, respect and authenticity. You have a unique skill, message, or drive you want to share with others. Perhaps you are an entrepreneur with a passion to change the world, a creative freelancer with sought-after talent, or a business person who is ready to perform and influence at the next level.

Does this sound like you?

“I know my professional reputation matters but I’m terrible at promoting myself. I don’t want to seem cocky, inauthentic or full of myself. Even the term ‘personal branding’ makes me cringe. I’m a human being, not a product to sell. But I also am worried that people are not finding out about the unique talents I offer. Kaitlin, what should I do?”

“There are a million things on my to-do list for my business. I don’t have any time to worry about my personal brand. My company’s brand can speak for itself and I secretly hope people don’t Google me online.”

I know how you feel:

I know what it feels like to have anxiety every time you put any type of information about yourself online. Sometimes, it even feels very difficult to upload a profile picture. I was worried about how my friends, family, colleagues, acquaintances, and even strangers, would perceive me and judge me. So I didn’t do anything about it, and the end result was that people around me didn’t understand what I really did. Some of them thought I was a graphic designer, an artist, a gallery curator, or even a student (even though I graduated years ago). Because I wasn’t representing myself clearly to the world, the world didn’t understand the values and talents I wanted to share with them. And in 2013, when I moved to London from Vancouver, that gave me a new and exciting opportunity to start over and think more about my mission statement, personal values and how best to serve others. So today, I work as a branding consultant for a technology development companies, such as Loowatt and I help entrepreneurs such as yourself build their personal brand through my website, blog, social media, webinars, live workshops in London and an upcoming ebook.

Here are a few benefits of a powerful personal brand:

  • people will trust you and want to work with you
  • better opportunities will come to you more often
  • investors will appreciate your leadership, thus making you more attractive to fund
  • become a thought leader or key person of influence in your industry
  • be seen as an authority and have more power and leverage
  • more press opportunities mean improved credibility and free marketing
  • networking events will become more fruitful, so you waste less time
  • help you make hard decisions by not doing anything that doesn’t align with your brand values
  • being in the spotlight will motivate you to keep learning and keep adding value to others

My goal in writing this blog:

The best way to learn something is to teach it and share it with others. I read a lot of blogs, articles, books and listen to podcasts, watch videos, attend conferences about personal branding. I want to share with you all the things I’ve learned and all the  resources that have helped me tremendously. I am, by no means, done in my journey to improve my own personal brand, and there are a lot of things I could do better (and I will do better). So I hope you’ll join me in this journey and help each other grow so that we can fulfil our potential and serve others in the best way we can.

My Two Philosophies

I have two philosophies which makes me different from other blogs:
  1. I believe in communicating ideas in the most concise and effective way possible so I am respectful of your time.
  2. I also believe in encouraging each other to do the hard work of branding together because it’s easy to agree with what I’m saying but difficult to actually sit down and do them yourselves.
This is why I always give actionable step-by-step guides to help you on your journey and encourage you to help each other via social media, such as my personal branding Facebook page.

What this blog is not about:

As a digital marketer, my strong suits are to teach you to grow and manage your online reputation. Although your personal brand offline is just important, it is not the main focus of my blog. There are better experts suited to teach you on these following topics: your body language, your speaking abilities, your clothes, your personality and your interpersonal skills.

You will learn about personal branding topics such as:

  • Your photos and videos
  • Your website
  • Your social media
  • Your online following
  • Your email etiquette and email mailing list
  • Your writings (blog, publications, content marketing etc.)
  • Your press and media engagement
  • Your strategic partnerships with other people and other brands
  • And many other ways to promote yourself online.
